Above: drawing of a second frame Ojibwa Frances Densmore
One of the traditional techniques for the production of items decorated with beads that had involved the use of a frame. In its simplest form (and old) the frame could be a simple branch curved arch wire to which the wires or take the form of a "frame" made with four branches whose length should be slightly greater than that of the part to achieve. There are also commercially produced frames for this purpose that greatly simplify the work, but these are the topics I want to speak here. To make a rough frame of the bands woven beads simply nailing four battens about 3 inches wide to form a rectangle about 35 x 25 cm. Same result can be expected when using an old wooden frame for those photos. On each short side of the frame on the top, you must then fix how many nails are the warp threads that will weave adding one more for each side. Basically if you want to do such a bracelet, in which each horizontal row will be 10 beads, 12 small nails to be established. It then takes a spool of strong thread, by stitching or the like, and attaches one end to the first nail on the left, taking a spread to the other end of the frame. Climb then continue until the end. It is important that the wires are taut. We can also help with masking tape to secure the wires firmly on the shingles. This will be the warp of the weaving. Warp preparation fills the needle with 50/70 cm of the same thread and binds to the first outer edge of the warp, called selvage, above. Many beads are caught than they should be in the first row of the design is pushed to the head tied to the selvage and are arranged correctly in the spaces between the wires, wire and beads are above the weft. Without this needle and thread should be passed over in the warp and tucked into the same row of beads. This continues until the end of the right colors inserting beads according to the plan to be undertaken. The drawing shows the method of weaving from the top and front
these are two bands that I prepared for the frame only to be sewn on a leather jacket
